About Us
On a little street, just down from the cathedral in the beautiful old city of Canterbury,
BABYLOVE first opened its doors to customers on the 15th April 2006.
Myself Ben, and Beth, partners in business and life, started BABYLOVE with the aim of
providing our customers with the peace of mind that comes from choosing to buy clothes and
toys that are Child Labour Free and where possible Organic. International cotton production
uses only 2.4% of the world's agricultural land but 25% of the world pesticide consumption.
This is damaging both for the planet and also for the growers who are exposed to these
chemicals.
Businesses are powerful and, although ours is still small, they can be a strong force for good.
We believe in doing everything we can to protect the environment and to ensure good working
conditions for those who make our beautiful products. Every difference makes a difference!
Coming from a background of management in large retail clothing companies, we became
increasingly dismayed by the ever decreasing price of clothes and the obvious impact this
would have on the wages paid to those who made them. In an age where we are all now so
aware of the global impact of our decisions, big organisations are still persuading us to buy
cheap clothes and replace them often, rather than a few good quality items. Our products are
durable and will last much longer than cheap high street versions. It is better for the world and
for you that they do.
Our other concern is that children’s ranges were becoming more and more “sophisticated”
encouraging children to be little adults rather than allowing them to enjoy their childhood.
At BABYLOVE we work with brands that share our ethos and values and therefore stock
beautifully made clothes and toys that reflect the beauty and innocence of childhood and will
instil in your child a real understanding of the work and care that has gone into producing
each item.
The only good choice is to invest in the future of our children!
